Bloody car!!

one thing is sorted, another needs working. well my PAS does not work, it makes a groaning noiset,.... i think my steering pump has gone. is this an exspensive job!? what do you guys think

go to your local Motor World mate, get yourself some Slick 50 Power Steering Fluid, its VERY good, and may improve things, get good feedback from customers on this stuff (I work at the St Helens branch)

You say the PAS doesnt work !! Are you sure ?? Mine works but makes the groaning noise !! The PAS is a fairly big job on a 16v because of the lack of space !! A garage would charge you £250+ !!

Yeah i think so it makes an awfull noise and very stiff but sometimes kicks in so i think my pump is busted!! Yeah i know its abig job as one thing comes out to get to another a complete nightmare car to work on really.

Yeah if you do a search for my water pump thread it shows you how i did it !! I had to change my water pump which is located underneath the PAS pump !! wasnt hard it just took ages !! are you any good with cars ? could you do it yourself ?

not to good really if i had the right tools i would attempt it myself, however i had the water pump changed last year. is that connected to the steering pump then?

The pulley on the right is the PAS pulley !! The pump is inside that casting !! easy enough to remove and replace !!

Isnt the pulley the altenator belt, i thought the car would have to be jacked up *raised* driving side wheel removed and then you go about doing it. So where is that pic located that does not look familiar at all?

I took bonnet, crossmember, radiator and light off !!

whats the fluid level like? are you sure you just havent got a leak and lost all your fluid.

Fluid level is ok i think, well last time i checked anyway!! urmmm, but it does seam to make a curgling noise like circulating water when im sitting still at trafic lights i hear it, i have no clue to whats wrong. But i know clios r known for steering pump packing up. Gonna go to Renault lunch today and see what they say!?

sounds like youve lost all/some of your fluid due to a leak somewhere.
