Blown Engine

New to this forum so bear with me to start off lol

I have bought a 1998 Clio Sport 172 with a blown engine!! (its got a gaping hole in the side so no chance of repair) and lookin on sites to find one to buy but need to know whether other year engines will fit ??

phs1 engine - F4R730/732 (i think, i've forgotten the code!) = big exhaust ports, some say its the best for poer
phs2 engine - F4R736 = ph2 172, same engine, just a few minor changes (nothing important)

182 engine is F4R738 and would be a bit of an arse to fit

Yours is known as a ph1. Basically a mk1 172

The newer model after that (the Clio Cup style facelift front) is known as a ph2 and then the one with the twin rear exhaust pipes is a 182
