Blu-Ray on PS3 Question

When i play normal dvd's on my ps3, they play full screen on my 42" plasma (connected with HDMI).

When i play Blu-Ray disks (Déjávu and In Pursuit of Happiness so far) they will not play full screen, and are in sort of widescreen mode (about a inch of black at the top and bottom of the picture). Am i missing a setting or something? Or is that just the way they are? I have had a play with settings and not found anything that changes it. The picture quality is amazing though

No, there isn't a way to get rid of them. I believe it's the way films are shot, they are slightly wider than normal for cinema use.
