Bonnet Lifters

Can someone explain a good reason why people do this?

I have seen a few now on different cars i personally they look s**t why do it?

if you had to prop you boot open with a pole that would get annoying real quick. i guess some people are under the bonnet as often as in the boot.

My dad has them on his TT and they sound nice! The sound is probably close to a door opening on the Starship Enterprise

Easier to use a bonnet :S. A bonnet isnt hard to open so using lifters saves you a time of 1.3secs wow waste of money.

Can you drive using these?

A bonnet isnt hard to open BUT bonnet lifters quite obviously take some effort out

Don't pull your squigly face at me, I don't use them ;)

I thought you meant these

bonnet struts are good,

bonnet lifters are bad!
i guess on SOME cars they are needed to keep engine temperatures down,
or let cold air in for airfeeds,

i guess to others they just give it that tuner look! (like putting "tow" stickers/straps, and tape over the lights)
its just another band wagon for people to jump on!
it is getting a bit old now though lol

AND BACK THE F**K UP A SECOND!!
is it really any better than having your name/forum name and national flag stickered on you back window like a rally car??
done any rallys lately?

Haha seems we have a bite, touched a nerve.

I live by north Wales sometimes on the weekend I pretend I am seb loeb.lol.

It is a way for people to ID me if there see me or people to recognise my car at meets practical reason behind it.

i wouldnt say touched a nerve, because personally i think they look guff,
but its peoples styling choise, and to call people a t**t just because that is their taste makes you come across like a bit of a bellend tbh.
perhaps thats their way of getting themselves noticed.

i think having your forum name on your window looks terrible and like a wannabe attempt at having a rally car,
i wouldnt start calling you a t**t though just because i dont like the mods youve done to your car.

i had bonnet liffters on my rs turbo to cool the engine down but i used to get loads of peeps at traffic lights etc telling me my bonnet was open lol

i quite like them tho only on certin cars

Fair point, my car is going anyway.

I asked what they do to see if they had a purpose of was purely for styling on a highly tuned car I can see the logic, but still look rubbish.

On a saxo like that one though utter t**t ;)
