Bonnet stuck

Hi guys, I went to open my bonnet this morning but it wouldn't open. Tried to have someone pull the lever while I pull on the bonnet but it doesn't move at all, the bumper and grille are off the car so I can pull the thing on the bonnet but it won't move, any ideas?

My old one did this. To release mine I had to pull the bonnet sideways first then up. The catch had corroded and was all jammed up whilst the bonnet latch was being pulled.
