I am sure this has been covered before but I felt I had to bring it to people’s attention again just in case.
The bonus accelerators (10 months = 1 year NCB) that are available through certain insurance companies are not all that they seem. I know that they are slight more expensive overall but as a young driver the faster accumulation of NCB is a big draw (it was for me anyway).
However when you come to re-insure your car and speak to other insurance companies they will not honour this year of NCB, so it is a complete waste, unless you wish to re-insure with the same company, which I don’t.
Some of you may say that you haven’t had a problem with this, but I have looked into it and basically unless you have declared it to your new insurance company and they have said they accept this “accelerator year” then the chances are you are not fully covered.
I am not going to mention the company I am with at the moment, but I would like to thank Adrian Flux for bring this to my attention and for their help and excellent customer service when I was applying for a quote with them.
This is my understanding of the situation, and I am just trying to point it out to people who may not realise. If there is anyone who could advise me or others of any way of not loosing this “accelerator year” that would be great.
Cheers,
Will
