Boot light only works with doors open

Hey i fitted a 100cm blue led strip along my boot and wired it to the boot light i unclipped the light and put the positive end of the leds to one prong on the connector and the negative to the other, any idea why the leds only work when the doors are open and not the boot now? Thanks

not sure.

id open the boot and get some testers across the +/- terminals and see what i got, It sounds like your not getting any power through.

Unsure, but is there a latch somewhere that triggers when the boot opens, thus putting the light on? Might be worth tracking down exactly what switches the light and see if its functioning


Is it maybe a N/C contact thats activated when the boots shut (making it open circuit), and then de-activated when the boots opon (closed circuit) which would make the light turn on? or is it more complex that that?
