Boot won't lock

When I lock the car, I can still open the boot - but the alarm does go off!
Any ideas!!! Kinda worried.

On my wifes Mk1 the wire was broken as it enters the tailgate

mine does this. take the plastic cover off the inside of the boot and you'll the the mechanism thing, see if everythings ok. If i fiddle with mine a bit its normally ok again

Once you've had a look and fiddled about if it still won't lock you'll probably need a new boot solenoid from ebay mate

I had this when I bought my car, got a replacement boot lock thingy from Renault and that sorted it.

They're not that expensive iirc.

i had this problem.new boot solenoid from renault fixed it.

Yeah just bolt on, bolt off i presume

yeah easy enough.once u take the boot panel off its held on with 3 screws i think (was last july i did it) and it shougles out.
