I not sure if this has somthing to do with the MBR on the second drive but when i install windows it always installs on the second drive d:\

Ive got 3 hard drives in my machine with about 2 partitions on each.My main drives located on sata one...but for some reason it always installs windows on the second drive (sata two) making it d:\

Ive only noticed this from installing vista but now ive gone back to xp its somehow scewe somthing on my second drive.

Is this somthing to do with the mbr?

Is it poossible to say clear it from my second drive without fornatting it...dont really fancy loosing all my stuff:eek:

Any ideas guys?

Thanks

the only way i can get windows to install to c:\ is with disconnecting the other drives

right - basically, it sounds like you ahve the SATA cables plugged in a bit wonky so check that first. They should be labled up in numbers.

Then i would go into your Bios and check the Boot priority - it should be set to the hard drive you want to boot from initially - that way you should install vista on the Hard drive stipulated in your Bios.
