Bottom ball joint plastic washers?

Hi guys,

I replaced my entire wishbone assembly the other day and I've had knocking ever since. I took it to a shop and they said the bottom ball joint was loose. Then when driving home it made the same knocking (during braking and acceleration). I am going to pop under the car and have a look.

Now I remember when installing, my old ball joints had a plastic washer type thing. I didn't use them on my new ones. Are they necessary? What do they do?

If it was there in the first place then i would have used them tbh. But that won't cause the knocking. I would say something hasn't been done/tightened correctly. Or the ball joint is a duff one.

Hmm okay. So I've been reading, and apparently people have been getting knocking from using 10mm bolts instead of 12mm bolts. I bought my wishbones from K-Tec (http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=4184&appid=2). What is the chance I have 10mm bolts in, instead of 12mm? What car uses 10mm and what car uses 12mm?
