Braided Hoses problem

Hi all,

I fitted my goodridge braided hoses yesterday on my clio 172 ff.

all was well, easy to swap the originals for the braided ones.

bled the system and when the car is off the brake pedal is solid as a rock and wont move.

i'm thinking i've done a cracking job.

fire the car up and the pedal goes all squishy. its no better if not worse than the old rubber hoses.

any ideas?

Bleed it again as I think from how you've described it you haven't done it properly.

There will be guide somewhere on here and a good bleed kit is important I've found.

bleed it again you wont have a completely solid pedal there will be some movement what pads have you got as they make some difference as well

whats the best way to 'fire off the abs'??????

some people have said there could be air in teh abs pump so it could need to be bled from there.

i've checked all the unions today and they are all tight and not leaking...
its just strange as its solid as a rock when the car is off.

and then when i fire it up when the car is stationary it goes quite squishy.

i've got just the oe spec renault ones on at the moment. i've got a set of mintex m1144s in the garage but i dont want to put them on when the OE pads have loads of life in at the moment.

The brake pedal will feel hard if you have pumped the brake pedal with the engine off, because you will have no assistance from the brake servo cylinder that works by vacuum when the engine is running.
