Brake disc bolts?

  1.4 Dynamique
Hi, just changed the pads and discs had no issues with the first one, went to change the drivers side and one of the two T40 bolts that hold the disc on rounded off, so had to be drilled out.

I thought it might be ok to drive home with one bolt but when going over 5mph it sounded like the disc was moving or my wheel was going to fall off so obviously not.

My question is what type of bolt is it does anyone know? i asked the lad at halfords as that is the only place open at this time and he said I can only get one from the Renault dealer?

Cheers

You don't even need the bolts for the brake disc as the wheel bolts, bolt into the hub. So you've done something else wrong!

Those little bolts do nothing, as the discs are held on by the wheel bolts.

IIRC the cup racers don't even use em.

should be fine without these bolts in they only secure the disc in place when the whel is removed the actual wheel bolts hold the disc in place, but clearly you have another problem

Really... should of put it in the garage lol I will have to double check everything then im not sure what else it could be unless the caliper bolts are not tight enough

I've shared your pain. I understand that they have a job to do, but the locator bolts are an absolutely crap and weedy design - given their exposure to the elements and the fact the metal they are made of appears to resemble cheese.

I 'just' about managed to get them off when swapping the front discs on the 182. Just like you, one side was ok, but the other was a right royal PITA. I've not had to swap them as yet, but I suspect that Reno 'might' be the only place to get a new set?

Yeah one was fine then the other was like cheese took ages to get out.. I have left it at a mates house at the moment but ill go back and try to figure it out tomorrow, It sounds like a knocking coming from the disc area, only thing I can think of is maybe its the caliper?

cheers for the quick replies!
