brake discs for Clio II 1.6 16v

The standard Renault discs and pads works out about £220 plus fitting.

Any recommendations for aftermarket discs / pads ?

Have been quoted £160 for Red Dot drilled and grooved.

Thanks for any advice.

Fit them yourself, its SO easy!!!! I think you have the same discs as on the 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 (they all have GTTurbo calipers and discs + pads!!!!! accept the clios have ABS)

Pads you can get for around £25

(does your car have ABS???)

I have a friend whos a mechanic, fitting isnt the problem.

Just which to go to purchase.

It does have ABS, its a 99T which was rebadged RSi a year or so later.

(sadly not the classic 1.8 RSi though)

Andyspares quoted £52 for pads and discs, but that seems way to cheap.

I dont want to spend a fortune, but dont see the point of paying £200+ for the standard Renault parts.

I was going to put a set of Red Dot 40 groove discs (£168 +vat), but I noticed that they were warped before I fitted them so I sent them back. I then ordered a set of Tarox G88 40 groove discs (£144 +vat) which were cheaper and a lot better finished than the Red Dot.

I also fitted Mintex M1144 pads and it has made a huge difference to the brakes - much better than the standard Renault discs.
