Brake Ducting Info

I would like to 'attempt' to fit some sort of ducting for the brakes.

Haven't done any searches as of yet apart from a few Google clicks.

Thought before I start I'd just see if anyone has all the info to hand which they would be able to share :) or to point me in the right direction..

How long does the pipe need to be?

What bore size to line up with the fog light holes?

Where's best for deflector plates? I heard Mark Fish did some, but yet to enquire.

Etc etc..

The pipe needs to be 450-500mm length so order a meter and that'll be enough. Pipe diameter needs to be 102mm iirc that matches up with the front fogs nicely. Then as said drill holes in liners move horn and relocate carbon canister, I think you can turn the CC on its side.. Think that what I did in mine..
Deflectors can be made or purchased from various people.. Also FYI when ordering ducting don't get single ply, get double as single will rust!

I'd get the double layered ducting if I did it again.

(Ignore the watering can bit, they were crap and were removed at the first MOT due to fouling the brake lines).

I don't have any arch liners in place now though. So I'd potentially need some pipework which was less flimsy to stay in place. Obviously I'd do what I could to hold it into place with what's around there.

That's pretty much exactly what I was aiming for Chip.

Pipework directly to the discs. Rather than just a hole through the arch liners, which I don't have in place currently anyway.

Probably massive over kill for my brakes. Just something I want to get out of the way whilst I've got free time and to see if it helps with cooling.

I run hose from the racer ducts to the arches. No arch liners on mine, I drilled a hole in the arch and cable tied them up. Easy enough to do but I'd like to get right to the disc instead of just 'directing' air.

Just run with no arch liners and no fog lights. Remove/move carbon canister. Is there any need for ducting? *F1 technology*

Every little helps. On a road car no...but on a car that comes off track with brakes so hot you cant touch the wheels...yes, absolutely.

Still haven't been able to finish mine off but I've got a hole in the arch liners with 100mm ducting. Will have deflector plates made from ali behind but these aren't fitted yet. Brakes didn't bake at brands the other day like they have done previously.

I had to remove the carbon canister, bend the hell out of the horn and cut a load of rubbish off the bumper (where the fogs screw on) A saw saw to that! Superglued the ducting to the back of the fog and wired the ducting to the arch liner (duct tape DOES NOT stick to ducting)

Here's a pic, about 400mm each side of ducting I think. This sounds like I do everything via bodge but it works very well.

As the air gets moved around by the wheel I wonder how much effect a deflector plate actually has. I'm in no doubt it helps but how much I question. Still, I'll put mine in!

I must not brake hard enough on track. My little Clio has never really boiled it's brakes.
