Brake lights permantly on.

Hiya peeps, noticed tonight when driving that my brake lights along with spolier brake light is permantly on, got home switched off ignition, lights went out, switched back on again and brake lights still on, also front sidelights did not come on, i have them on automatic, worked ok when i put the fronts on manual though. Is this just a case of adjusting the switch thing on the brake pedal? Cheers in advance, Chris.

yep its some sort of switch on the brake pedal, the guys who fitted my mums dual controls managed to make the brakelights do this on the 1.2 16v learner car. took it into renault and they sorted it in 2 minz! someone on here will know how to do it though if you dont already.

Theres a little clip in switch on the pedal have a mess about might not be plugged in.

yea little switch behind the brake pedal. My lights didnt come on early enough, so i 'broke' the top off the switch, the put a screw in the top of it - now i have a fully adjustable switch and can set the brake lights to come on however sensitive i want.

this is a surprisingly common problem on modern cars i find!!

Thanks lads, I fixed it this morning, the switch on top of the pedal had came loose, fitted it back into its position and works fine now, although there may seem like there is some sort of clip missing to keep it in place!
