Brake pad life

I was just wondering how long front brake pads usually last on a 172/182?

In 22500 miles in the 172 and 18500 in the 182 I never needed new ones. The Trophy is in for it's 12k this morning and it needs new front pads.

The 182 had done a few track days, but I don't think any of them required as heavy braking as the ones I've done in the Trophy. Plus my drive of the route Napoleon and Col De Turini in France probably didn't help.

£99 all in at Renault Brum so I've said they may as well do it, seeing as the service isn't costing me anything.

I'm fitting my 4th set of brake pads to the Trophy tonight, done 14k miles. 7 Track days / evenings + 3 airfield days and a ring trip in there though.

12k seems a bit early but if you've done a few track days i guess its probably about right

Because I can't be arsed. I'm sick of f**king around with the car. I just want to be able to get in and enjoy it at the moment.

I'll get them run in ready for some track time on Sunday.

12k is alright I suppose...

I ripped-out the std renault pads @ 12k - they were looking quite charred after brands + 'ring (although not thin).

My DS2500 have lasted AGES (fronts)... still plenty of life in them too.

Mine are coming upto 31500 miles and are knackered prob about 3-4mm of pad left and the backs of the disks are proper fucked!! Brake upgrade coming soon

Hi Guys,
When will i be able to tell when the pads are going? Will i hear some squeaking? I've done 15k but 95% of those have been motorway miles, however every now and again done some serious hard braking round a mint road near me. Shall i take the wheels off and have a look?

I'm guessing I am going to get told I need new ones on my 24k service but I wouldn't know even if I didn't to be fair

^^^ Know the feeling Maz,i guess we should feel slightly longer brake pedal travel and a softer pedal too from past experience with cars needing new pads.

16,000 on the original pads and they are about half worn.

Got some new pads waitig to go on so may have to have a go at destroying the OE ones:D
