I know 'use the search function'. i have done with most the threads being some time ago. So i will be after some decent pads for a few trackdays a year with the next one at the end of october, but the car will be mainly for road use. Car is a 05 182 btw.

Yeah thinking they may be the safiest bet, allways good to ask though, times change etc.

It does depend what you like from a pad as braking, like tyres and suspension is entirely personal taste, but I'm a big fan of the Mintex M1155. Technically a sprinting pad as it doesn't take a lot to get up to temperature, unlike a full race/track pad, but they have lovely feel to go with the stopping power. I'm running Brembo Sport pads in my car at the moment on long term test (done 5k now), and I hate them, they feel just like ds2500's to me, meaning they stop the car fine, but there's no feedback through the pedal.

I actually really rate standard spec Pagid pads, they're better than genuine renault by a lot. Happily done Bedford track days on them in a 172 cup, and a megane 225.

Then why do four days on them lol

Because they were expensive and I want to get use out of them lol. Keep saying maybe it's just me, I'll see how they get on the next time.

Plus I'm lazy!!

Think I'll give the Mintex a go next time. Heard good stuff about them. Will have a quick look at the price now.

Interesting ref the pagid as i dont think they are expensive at all? The mintex ones, what sort of cost are they?

Brembo discs, ds2500 pads, uprated fluid (Whatevers on offer) braided lines, Yozza brake ducts....

Never ever had any fade any warped discs any pad failure.....

Just perfect for what I use the car for. (battering it! lol)

Haven't a foggiest anymore as have been running 4-pots for a couple of years now. But truthfully what's the point in worrying over the 25%-50% difference in price between pads if they are 100 times better. The RC5+ pads really are that good. I tried the RC6 pads and in the standard callipers were the best of the lot, but they are more a track/odd few miles on the road pad and as you're only doing the odd track day then the RC5+'s would be more suited.I tried the 1155's in my old Willwood callipers as wasn't that impressed, changed them to the 1166's which were a marked improvement. I'm now running Pagid blues in my Alcons and they have a very nice feel to them.

The only issue with those is they leave iron filings welded to your wheels and your paintwork. Fine for a track only car, but far from ideal on a road car!
That was the problem with the old RC5's the RC5+'s are a lot better. Part & parcel of an aggressive pad unfortunately.

Well I charged £108 for the last set of m1155 I fitted (last week). Pagid standard ones are under £40, I fit and sell a lot of those

I often get fade, and I think I might have warped discs now lol, but I'm not sure how I tell.

The only thing you have different to me is Yozza brake ducts. I've have taken out the fog lights and all the arch lining though, so there is plenty of direct airflow to around the brake area. Really can't see how some tubing would make that much of a difference??

Wouldn't bother with cl's, ruin your wheels and paintwork...you will have OCD heart attack!

Personally, never had an issue with ds2500's other than they squeak a bit around town, but i don't do track days, so i aint able to comment really, lol! Speed to the brake man on here for discs etc! :)

Well when we track our car, we pay for 2 drivers so basically, the car stays out all day.

Never EVER had even a hint of fade.

If you've got warped discs, i'd check for a binding caliper as that's some serious heat! I can understand it on cheapo Euro car parts discs and pads and crap old fluid, but not on brembo equipment.

warping disks is a myth, it doesn't happen. What people think it warping, is actually deposits of pad causing unevenness in the disk surface. Can be caused by sitting with your foot on the brake when stationary and they're hot, or sticky calipers.

2500's, work well from cold, dust like an o.e pad. I've never tracked them but they are very strong for fast road imo,

I warped discs with DS2500's but I definitely rate them as a pad but I will be needing to upgrade to DS3000's soon according to Fred.
