Brake pipe ‘bung’

Now then, this maybe a silly question for many. But I thought I would ask! So digging around the arse end of my 182 this afternoon. I noticed that my rear beam brackets are looking like fossils. So I’m building up the energy to strip the back end on this car like I did with my last (before I ruined it) now when I removed the rear Beam from the old car I removed the rear brakes as one of the hose was fractured. However on my current car the lines appear good. The issue I had last one was over the time the brakes were off the car I lost all of the brake fluid from the system. Which meant it needed an abs bleed and actually I think rubbing the system dry cause some master cylinder issues. So my question is, can you purchase or make brake line ‘bungs’ to stop the brake system loose all it’s fluid?im hoping the answer is “yes hear is the link” so I can crack on and drop the back end off the car safe in the knowledge I won’t have a garage floor covered in oil !
TIA

This will cap off the hoses, if you want to cap the brakelines you can get a female version 😉

These are from https://atec-autotechnik.com/en/ Im sure you can get them on ebay or somewhere though

The brass type are the best option as the plastic ones (especially the caps) tend to spilt over time if you're leaving them for a while 😉

Amazing thank you so much! So I will be blanking both lines and hoses I guess, for the money I’ll buy both anyway! M10 being the correct size then?

Jam the brake pedal on mate, that's what I did along with cable tying a rubber glove finger over each line to stop dirt and dust fouling them.

I just used these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18262564...1L0K6CgZ9GW04VBi1g8pEEscShpcWxsRoCUTAQAvD_BwE

Left the car without rear calipers on while I messed about for 4 weeks ish. Realistically if your taking the beam out you'll be changing the brake lines :)

I think lines were £60 from caliper back to body (so eliminates the short one between body and beam). After 4 weeks with clamps on the system bled just fine. Those caps should work a treat too.

That's what I did for rear lines, got them from a chap on here, Paul from BRT I think?
