Maz

  LY 200
My car is going into reno for 24k service when I get back off my hols and I am expecting to be told I need new pads etc I am doing a track day on 30th June and read that Many regular trackday enthusiasts upgrade the disks, pads and brake fluid they use which on top of improving track performance please can anyone advise where and what to purchase , Ferodo ??

Any help would be great :D

Re: Break Help please ..

From what people have told me I'd probably just go with the DS2500 up front. I had new pads last week but kinda wish I'd gone for those now. I'll wait until I've killed the standard ones again first. They were smoking at FCS. lol

Edited the title.;)

Cheers for the title edit Lee . . god I can't spell .. lol

What are DS2500?? are they Ferodo sorry for being dumb but I havn't got a clue .. also how many miles should I expect to get out of what I have now ??

Thanks :)

Yeah they are the Ferodo ones. You want to ask EVOgone as I know he's tried a few different ones out.

You wouldn't like Performance Friction pads as they destroy wheels with brake dust.

Right cheers for that Lee .. I will have a word with Steve when I get back off my hols ..

Do you know where is the best place to buy please ?? :)

i have just put new pads in mine, went for standards though as they seem plenty good enough. But then again mine is only used on road. I think next time i will go for the ferodo's too.

I've heard people quote that the ds2500 & ds3000 are the ones to go for (on std calipers).
Unless your going to be really thrapping the engine and brakes, I'd stick with the standard disc's. Changing the brake fluid again IMO would only be worth it if your going into the track thing for real.

At FCS some people were running on std pads & disc's(subway being one).

If it was me buying I'd go and see y0z. The guys who carry out all his work are the dogs. That's my personal opinion. lol

Definatly bleed the brakes when you change the pads regadless of the pads you use, and stick some decinet fluid in there even more important if you use DS2500 etc.
DS2500 are a very good compromise though DS300's will damage the alloys and paint.

What was it you said last week? "I'm sticking to standard 'cos I can't be arsed with the hassle"? lol :p

And I did. I have standard pads. If they need doing before the next service I may swap. The standard ones got a little smokey on track. lol

Beside, the Brembos on my 197 will be better.

Maz, your brake pads have loads left.... you can do oulton on them and then worry about them. Even then i think they will still see you to the right side of 30k.

you'll be fine MAz....you're being dropped in the deep end. Go at the pace you want to go at, be observant of faster cars. and Most importantly have fun

lee's still tryin to figure out which is the brake and which is the throttle so no worries.
