Brakes noise

  Weeman sucks ****

Ie just had some EBCkevlar pads fitted to my cup, let them bed in for about 300 miles but gave it some big time lovin the other night and now I get a quiet knock when I apply pressure?!

Its hardly noticable but wasnt there before and mainly happens when braking lightly at around 10-40 mph. It sounds like its coming from the front right spring area.

Anyone had this and is it something I should get checked out?

had that then my bearing went, if the noise gets worse, then a whine appears, a bearing.

But it could be a multitude of things, like loose caliper or carrier, spring, bushes, ball joints etc etc.

Youll have to inspect my friend.

Thing is when I had the dealer fit the pads they came out with some rubbish about the pads not being a renault part and if there was any squeeking etc. they wouldnt sort it.

It is a useless dealer but its 5 mins walk from work where the only other one is a way away. Hmmm....

Cheers for the help mate.

well im changing my pads soon so ill let you know if the noise goes away

changing to Ferodo DS Performance

I had the same problem with ebc pads, the steel back of the pad is not exactly the same as the original renault pad, this causes the pads to be a looser fit in the caliper/carrier and so when applying the brake the pads move slightly, but enough to cause an audible clunk. I now use ferrodo ds2000 far better imo.

the pads you were supplied might have been for the clio 2s with the shims on the pad carrier.the pads are a bit smaller so they fit in the carrier as well as the shims.might explain why yours were very loose in the carrier.
