Brands Novice Track Day *PICS*

  Clio 182

Just a few - the rest are on my flickr photo site if anyone wants to see them.

Brilliant day - interesting selection of cars - including the "novices" who turned up on slicks... hmm... The guy in the Noble did turn out to be a novice after all though! MR2 ended up deep in the gravel and an Exige spun in front of me. Bit busy though, had to queue for ages to get on track.

Cant wait to go back :-D I even overtook cars today, some people were really slow EVEN compared to me lol.

Instruction was excellent, really pushed me compared to the guy I had at the Renault day. He also had the most amazing deep blue eyes :)

Oh, and I broke two nails :-( Plus I feel awful, HUGE spider just ran across my carpet and I only had my race boot to hand to kill it with, hate doing that :-(

I was so busy taking the pic as I drove out, I didnt notice the squirrel till I loaded the pics on my pc!

This woman was actually driving in that outfit... as she came out of the briefing in front of us, her skirt just flew up in the wind...

Wow thats twice Ive seen your car clean now Karen! ;)

Seeing all your track pics really makes me want to have a go - the only time Ive been on track was at Goodwood in a high-powered Volvo (for training) and a Formula Ford (which was ace!).

If its not too far I think Id like to - would just need to get insurance sorted, and hope it doesnt wear out the tyres too much.

Im going back to Brands Indy for definite hopefully a few more times this summer but will be looking at some other easy ones too.

Those tyres have done almost 11k miles inc 3 track days. Though Ive got bugger all idea how worn out they are  Dont suppose that helps lol. Sure Renault will tell me when it goes in for its service...

Exactly the reasons why I dont think Ill be taking the Vee on a trackday. Id love to see how hard I can push it ... but I know Id push it the limit and the "disposables" on the Vee are just too expensive.

Looks like you had a great day Karen :D

Oh Andy come on!!! I drove the Vee at the Renault day, goes lovely on track :-D

Track days are SO addictive...

take it to an airfield day, i can get you on a rtoc day if u want, norm about 4 or 5 ren techs go so any car probs they will be able to help with... airfield days are better for your first time as there is much more runnoff area, plus you tend to get to go out in groupes of car power and driver skill...

looks like a fun day, i spent this morning washing my car then went kite buggying, and now ache sooo much, good to get my kites out again, went on a mountainboard too (with kite) and wanted to try the cliff jump (jumping off a small 35foot high cliff with a kite :D (not a mini spin round in the air kite lol, a 15 foot wippika used for buggying and surfing) but bottled it :( weather was perfect, got a tan too lol.

got a drifting day coming up soon that im gonna go to :D learn to drift rather than allmost drifting and ending up doing doughnuts and lots of smoke :D

Done 4 trackdays in mine so far Andy - still on the same tyres. Another one booked next month. Go on - you know you want to :D

Andy, you have to get the car on one of these days, you would need to do something incredibly silly to put it into the scenery. Yesterday, was really good fun, if a little overcrowded. Still managed four 1/2 hour sessions, in half a day. It is very addictive.

Pics to follow....

Oops, bit on the big size those! It was another great day out at Brands. Interesting to see how the 182 compares to other cars and drivers on track. This was meant to have been a novice day, but when a full race prepared Civic TR, turns up on a trailer, with mechanics and team mechanic, things were looking serious. Although, the guy driving it was most definitely a novice.

Ive got to thank Mark Fish, for sorting out my brakes the day before, at really short notice. The guy is awesome. And the brakes are too.

Dave, good to meet you, and Im glad you were quicker than your mate!!
Oh and I have to say is watch out lads, Karen is getting V.fast!!!!!! (y)

Brands yesterday was quality! :):D let me know whent he next novice one is, track today i thought was a bit better as it was longer, but brands was smoother.

  Clio 182

Mark - dunno about the gravel, but very very nearly on the grass yesterday, should have heard the language inside the car!

Steve - Oh thank you SO much for posting that picture ;-) We tried to get on the forum whilst up at FCS but Malices phone died! Love the one on the track though :-D Thanks for the comment too lol. Think I shall have to put the gaffer tape picture up now!!!

D4ve - Im going to be looking into another novice day that is coming up - a full day one. Think a couple of the girls might be interested so Ill check it out and put a post up about it soon or anything else that would suit beginners that I can find. I only really want to go back to Brands though, at least now I know it, I can concentrate on the other bits more!

Lol I flew past him!! All the CTRs were very slow yesterday, especially that other old one.

  Renaultsport 220T

Thank god, Tiff wasnt driving that CTR! I was amazed how slow he was. If I was a novice, I dont think I would have the b*lls to turn up with a full race prepared car, and drive round that slow. I would be so embarressed?

The race engineer (lets call him dad?) even came into the pit lane while we were queuing to go on track and cleaned the windscreen. Very professional! :D

Just read on PH that the Evo went off as well - thought there were at least 3 big offs although Id only seen the two while I was actually out on track!

I didnt go off!!! I just went grass tracking on the outside of graham hill bend for a laugh

Appoliges if me bringing my worn road legal semis on another set of rims upset a few people - they were nothing more than my old road tyres (worn to below legal limit) to save my current tyres! Although not a complete beginer I wouldnt class myself as more than a novice, but perhaps I am.

Mole, Evo looked well sweet mate. How much HP are you running in it? You went past me on the M/straight, like I was stopped!

i loved that evo i was sat behind u in the que in the pit lane when a young girl jumped in, then swapped over helmets!

i wanted to jump in!
