Brembo,s or better pads ?

  Golf mk4 R32 Audi A1
Morning... I recently got my hands on a 182 turbo and find the brakes a little wooden feeling..

I got the 197 brembos with brackets thrown in with the car but after reading up I wonder whether I should just sell the caliper and get better pads?

The car has brembo drilled and grooved discs and standard brembo pads moutul 660 fluid....

Thanks for any help.

Standard Brembo pads aren’t the most confidence inspiring. I switched mine out for HP2000 which is the Brembo Sport version and those were a little better. I’m currently using DS2500s, but not even sure if they’re available these days. I’m talking for general daily road use. Lots of other options for Track.

I do plan on doing the odd track day but it seems that popular opinion is that the brembos don't offer much more performance.. admittedly they look better but if I can flip them on and upgrade what I have I think that's what I will do.

I had the brembo pads before on mine but switched to mintex 1144 (there is also now a new compound) and they are great. Mine is 99% a road car though.

DS1.11 if you're doing track days.

If you have got 197 callipers then keep them as they are an upgrade to the 182 calliper. It is likely that your existing brake pads are not very effective rather than it being a problem with your callipers.

Try something that has more bite. I have a 200 that is used on track and Ferodo DS1.11s are a great brake pad for track work.

Ahh ok I will get some pads then fit the calipers... I don't suppose anyone would no what spec/size bolts I need to mount them... the pbs brackets are mounted to the caliper I just need to source bolts to mount on the car...

Thanks people appreciated

Disagree here, I have had 3 megs with brembos and all of them have braked far worse than the 172 on standard calipers with good pads

I use mine on track and a well priced pad is the PBS ProRace. I think DS1.11 are among the best but are pricey
