Broke down on the M1 :( please help with advice!!

so my poor car broke down on the M1, about 30 miles from home, waited 5 hours in the dark to be towed home at about half 2 in the morning.

basically, here's what happened, i was doing about 75mph on the way home from dropping my grandma in london, when the engine oil light came on. hopeing that it would last my till i got home, i slowed down to 50 and moved over to the left hand lane, about 2 minutes after, the engine just cut off, luckily i had enough time to pull onto the hard shoulder. i tried to start it again and it made massive clunking noises. Anyway, the AA man told me the valve has gone, the tow truck dude told me something else, and my friend who's almost qualified to be a mechanic says that one of the spark plugs in the engine has completely come out. has anyone had anything relative to this happen to them? and can anyone offer any advice?

i had no choice, i was no where near an exit off the motorway and had no oil with me

oil light on at 75mph = too late, engine already up the swanny

I'd be interested to see it when it's apart if it's managed to hammer a spark plug out!!
