Yeah, massive suckage. Will get a diagnostic check. It was fun while it lasted. A whole 9 hrs of ownership! #fml

They can still fail regardless of when it was done, lets just hope it aint and i don't think it will be.

Do you mean water temperature dropped or has it got oil temp on it??

What ever the gauge next to the petrol is! That dropped, but was still driving Ok, then far right handside eml came on, not Central one.

I think it's water temp like you mentioned. That dropped to nothing but was still driving like normal.

might be battery related but then the eml light wouldn't come on I don't think.

Coilpack, spark plugs, ignition leads, relays??

Did it go into limp mode at all

Engine coolant sensor gone rogue!! Causing engine to cut off in order to 'save' it. Also he mentioned the fuel filter could do with replacing and to get a coolant flush. I won't be able to get parts tomorrow so will prob get local garage on the case and get it sorted. Made me smile when the guy said how nice it looked, and that he could tell its been in good hands!

Yeah, relatively simple. when someone mentioned Cambelt I was thinking my Renault love affair would be very brief...... ; )

Whats greenflag said? it won't be battery related due to the starter still turning.

Yeah forgot that when it was my battery it wouldn't turn over at all, just made a clicking noise

Anyway glad you diagnosed the problem, the fuel filter though isn't a serviceable parts its located in the tank iirc

I broke down after i picked my clio up a 100 miles from home had already covered well over 200, and greenlight were complete ass holes, guy was being a right wanker said the wires to my alternator were too thin and its all been bodged together. Wanted a stupid amount of money to recover me home. Eventually I got it home for £190 and took me 30 minutes to sort the car out on my drive at home.

Oh, so can't replace it at all?? He said the exhaust smelt like it was running quite rich and that the state of the exhaust wouldn't help mpg (original and nearly gone). Then he mentioned that I should check fuel filter and potentially replace.

Who was this guy that diagnosed it and did he recommend you change the flux capacitor also? So its smelling like it was running rich therefore change the fuel filter!?! I thought he diagnosed a shafted coolant temp sensor... so that wouldn't at all cause it to run rich then, no?

Flux capacitor must have been done when the Cambelt was done. I'll get the sensor done, flush the coolant then start thinking about a new exhaust, as its blowing and looks pretty fooked. Just don't want a super loud bad boy edition exhaust ; )

You may as well do the thermostat as well mate if doing the coolant and sensor .

Is that one too look for or are you having me on? I am a noob and no less than nothing! ; )

The rs192 is meant to be a nice sounding exhaust, fairly quiet through town but when pressing on it comes to life a bit more.
If you want loud get a decatted yozza:evil:

The sensor on my temperature gauge has been broken since I've had it mate, always shooting up, then dropping (disconnecting).. I wouldn't be too worried about that to be honest.

Good luck with the fix/solution.

That just proves that you don't look after your car lol. Something like that, I'd be getting fixed right away !

When you see the receipts I'm sure you'd take that comment back!! Lol.

It's just not something that has ever bothered me mate, doesn't get ragged senseless so don't rely on it too much!

But the ecu won't be fuelling right. But that's not important of course because you don't rag it. They're like £15 ffs.

Explain, please?

ECU won't be fuelling right?

If I fiddle with the wiring it will pick it up again, didn't think it was much of an issue?

The ECU manages the running of the engine (fuelling and ignition). To do this correctly it needs to know a few variables such as load, air temp, engine temp, etc to correctly work out what math to throw in so it puts a smile on your face when you hit the go pedal.

Ugive it Incorrect sensor variables and it either runs s**t or it defaults back to factory programmed "safe" lookups (and runs s**t).

Decent explanation mate, cheers! Will definitely get it replaced!

But when its cutting out at traffic lights trying to 'save' itself it gets a little tedious!
Will call the garage first thing and get it sorted ; )
