broken steering angle sensor? esp, abs, serv light. need help.

  Arctic 182, GTD
Right I need some help with my 182, I changed over my light stalk the other day to a PH1 one with a horn button as got a sabelt wheel, and in the process Ive managed to bollox my steering angle sensor/squib, as it now clicks when turning the wheel and all the above lights are on. Ive spoke to a friend at renault and all they can find is the main sensor behind the wheel In which the stalks fit into. but I also need the sensor that clicks to thw front of it, its a valeo unit and the main wires come through it before going into the boss can anyone help with either telling me exactly what part to replace based on previous delaings or get me the part off their one as I havent got the right tolls to remove mine until saturday and need it sorted before hand.

Cheers

I've got this issue, my cruise control has stopped, horn has stopped and all warning lights on....

I've changed the rotating squib but no cigar.

If you find a cure, share the wealth as it's doing my nut in!

My mate even plugged it in to Renault Clip and all it said was no power to the steering wheel or something. Whatever it said it didn't tell me what was wrong!

Yeah I no what you mean, tbh I'd be happy to just replace both sensors behind the wheel and the brake light switch aswell, but I need that part number for the first flat sensor that clicks to the main column first.

It did but it wasn't interpreted correctly. Which "circuit" was at fault and was it showing up as an open circuit, short circuit, etc?

Most cases like this are fixed by replacing the clockring assembly but every now and again an interesting one pops up with continuity issues between the column loom and the UCH. Just needs an hour of time and some basic tools to properly figure out Dan ;-)

Its the main spiral cable unit in the steering assembly which all wheel based functions route thru (SRS, horn, cruise). Luckily on the X65 it can be bought and replaced without having to change everything... think it retails at around £67 new.

If you want to take a gamble thats where I'd put my money but I prefer to know rather than guess.

If it were me I'd want to run some quick continuity tests on the effected circuits (in your case CC and Horn) with a DMM and that'll tell you without a diubt if the unit is ballsed.
