Bucket seat help/advice

Looking into some bucket seats as my next purchase. Been offered these at a good price, brand new, still with the box etc. - Without the harnesses though as they attach to a roll cage bar apparently.

The seats come with side mounts.

Can i just bolt these side mounts to the standard clio seat runners???

Tah :)

*I searched, but meh, couldnt find anything massively conclusive

Do they have side mounts with them? I would need to see one / a pic of one to work out if they can drop onto the clio runners, you'll have to deal with the height differences, horizontal difference & the sliding mechanism that gets in the way on the outside of any flat side mount you might want to bolt to the Clio frames.

Its this PITA fitment that makes the Recaro adapter frames so expensive, and took us awhile to overcome with our frames.

They will go on the floor, but not on the clio sliding frames without some 'manipulation'

If you go and look in the car look at the outside runners on both sides, there is a little catch raised above the flat of the runner that is part of the lock mechanism. This prevents flat adapters from attaching the the frames.

On another note, if you provide me the dimensions between the two fixing points on those seats I may be able to get you / make up a set of runners that would do the job with the OEM sliders - the ones we made for our Bimarco seats.

If they will bolt to the floor thatll do me :) Will they bolt the the o/e positions with them being offset?

Not sure, based on that image the uprights on the frames don't seem able to move, therefore you can't reposition the vertical holes to the seat once the frames are aligned with the offset holes on the floor....

If you can, before buying sit in them. As what he finds comfy and you could be 2 different things

Ill nip round his house and have a sit in them.

Problem i have is, i want to strip the car completely, and think that standard seats with no carpets, door cards, roof lining etc will look silly.

But £800 is alot for seats if there not going to fit easily. And from what Tom says, they probably wont just drop in :(

Not trying a shameless sale here, but have you considered our seats? All in including fitting, resistors setup etc for around £700.00. Composite one piece like above, and FIA approved.

May be worth bolting to the floor then, Bomber has done this. I sat in it at bedfore and could barely see over the dash, but then I am short lol

A strip of metal bolted to the bottom of the sidemounts, the strip then bolts to the seat rails

If going straight on the floor those will be fine (if they have enough length), all you need do is drill some holes for the lower mounting points to come through :)

Could mount to the actual floor pan, existing rail or get some 25x25mm box section welded in

Frames lol. Fit them to the seats. The put the seats in the car and mark up the frames from underneath with a punch or something similar. Have you dealt with the seat mounting bolts under the car before?

Not on a clio :(

So i attach side mountings, put into the car, mark where the holes go, and then drill and bolt in?

Essentially, take your time over it though.

Under the car are four rubber bungs, pull them out & impact gun/extension bar & socket the bolts underneath off made need some lube loving too, the seats will then lift straight out of the car runners attached.

1 seat has 2 rubber gromits containing 1 nut in each ad the other 2 are located in the exhaust tunnel through the heatshield

Well, our drivers seat in the track car is the same/similar.

We found it sat really high so we did modifications to the floor :p

See our project thread.

Great seats, hold you really well, not ideal for roads though :p
