i have a set of cobra daytona's fitted to my clio with harneses, i have currently got my airbags turned off, as im not sure if you can have your airbags turned on with harneses(also because there is no airbags in the seats no more.) can any one shed any light on this for me???

Thanks
Craig

if you mean youve put resistors in to turn the light off the other airbags will still work....
They work even with the airbags warning lights on

i havent put the resistors in so the light still comes up, so i can still use the front airbags? by turning them bk on in passenger side door ???

thanks for the replies guys

What do you meaan by use the'll still go off if that what you mean?

The passenger side fdoor only deactivated the passenger side door one anyway.

Yeh you can still use the front airbags, The switch on the passengers side door only turns off/on the passenger side airbag, for when you have a rear facing baby seat in the passenger seat. Just turn it back on. Both airbags will still work. If you want the airbag warning light off youll have to put in resistors.

sorry but this is possibly the most dangerous thing regarding air bags that ive heard, you clearly havent researched it to check what happens,i suggest you research it properly before doing any such thing in the future

well this is a helpfull comment???

if its the most dangerous thing u ave ever heard, then do you care to explain or point me in the rite direction

Yes mate, there is no way (without disconnecting it) of switching of the steering wheel airbag. :) The key control in the passengers door only controls the passenger side airbag.

thanks guys :D reali helpfull as per:) cheers edde and gaz, will switch the passenger side bk on in the mrorning

im on about the fact that you have done all this without realising what it actually does.for instance thinking you had turned off all the airbags and you havent whatsoever

i had a ruff idea, at the end of the day wether i had an idea or not, your comment wasnt very helpfull. but thanks for pointing it out ;)

thanks m8 :) airbags will all be working obviously just wont have them in the side of the seats, and just gonna ave to live with the gay light on

i thought the driver 1 had to have a different ohm rating to the passenger 1?might be wrong...btw those seats look mint

i had some 3.3ohm in the past im sure, although the tape came off one of the connectors and the resistor came out.........so i thought easy enough, il get another........so went and got a 3.3ohm one from maplins, same i thought, but the light didnt go off

so i thought il get some new 3.3ohm ones, still didnt go off........then i saw 2.7ohm referenced on here, so i got some of those, still didnt go off..........so its either my system is nackered, or maplins gave me the wrong rating every time!

so im stuck with the lights on now!

coz i tried some that i was told worked, and they didnt :( so im not sure which ones i need

i hate the service light being on :(

ive been to maplins again today, 3.3ohm resistors purchased, even got the guy behind the counter to test them on a multi meter before i took them, they were all ok......

put them in, ignition on, SERV and airbag light go out, then after about 3/4 secs they come back on, FFS! whereas when there were no resistors in it would just stay on all the time........so putting them in has made a difference somewhere, even though they come back on after a few secs :(

Dont know if its the same but on all my previous vauxhalls, when any airbag is disconnected and you put a resistor in the light will as above go out then come back on, the only way round it was to get the fault code cleared by one of those hand held jobbies garages uses!

If thats teh case then you all may have the right resistors just need the reset done!

But like i said could be wrong as not sure if its the same on renaults!

aye, maybe...........although i had these same resistors in when i first swapped the seats.......light stayed off until one of the resistors came out, when i replaced its been the same as that^^

Once the airbag light comes on the dash, all airbags except the steering wheel are deactivated due to the system thinking the seats airbag has activated.

Yes one option is to fit resistors (3.3ohm from maplins in the seat's circuit) but if this doesn't work take it to Renault and they will deactivate the seat airbag circuit but leave all others connected and working with no light illuminated.

so moss, your sayin that the only airbag that is working in the car is the steering wheel one?i reali need to sort this out then. wen it comes to fitting the original seats back in, how easy is it to get all the airbags back and working
