in general speak of g3 and g10 which is all i have a rotary with polishing mops whats the best product to use after g10 as i still get the biffer trails acros the car when i use it. read about speed being too fas tetc but its only in the mid range of the recomendation on the bottle. machine glaze be the answer?

Not used G3 or G10, but getting a hologram free finish is where the skill in using a rotary is. Worth read on on www.detailingworld.co.uk on the Rotary use threads.

Personally I would look into what polishing/ finishing pads your using as well as your polish/compound choice - what speeds does you rotary have on it, how long your working the polish for ? Lot's of variables.

aye prob best to get a scrap panel really.. speeds say between 600 and 2500rpm for autiglym 02b and 03b. and a valater told me 7 passes overlapping each bit is fine, just being carefil about heat buildup etc. my rotary starts at 900 rpm up to some silly speeds which is never sees!

The Ag bodyshop range is very old fashioned.

I would look into some more modern style polishes such as Menzerna which help to great a better finish. The diminishing abrasives in them mean they start of with a decent cut, but break down as they are worked to create a nice gloss and finish, helping to minimize holograms. Older type polishes just keep a constant cut no matter how longer you work them.

would you be able to recommend a decently priced polish for a beginner that would take out swirls and which type of pad to use it on, i think thats mainly where the problem lyes because im following that technique on the guide.

cheers

Pete, you can't go wrong with Menzerna PO106FA to be honest. It finishes with bags of gloss but does cut nicely.

if youre mopping with g3 and g10, make sure you wipe all the g3 off first before you start using the g10.

g3 use with a bit of water.

tbh i get trails of polish when i mop, simply because it would take too long to get the panel immaculate. i just whizz it over with the g10 a few times and then wipe off any excess with a mf cloth

ill have a look into that.

when you say too much product has been used, i put it on and buff till its nearly all gone. is there much to the technique, i just go back and fowrward in straight lines overlapping a bit each time.

I wouldn't have thought too much polish would induce buffer trails....it would just take longer to work it and you would probably get some initial splatter.
Once the pad is primed you only need a tiny amount of polish at a time.

I have used the menzerna on the PC. I use similar motions too Pete.

Steady passes (slightly overlapping each time), start horizontal then diagonal then vertical over each area at a time to ensure full coverage and the polish gets worked in.

I hope I'm doing it right by now :star:

Nah, too much product causes a kind of hazing...
