Ok the alarm has just gone off again at work following the 'ignition trick' this morning. So we've had approx. four hours of no alarm, then it went off again. It seems to run for a few minutes, then stops, then starts again and sounds for 1 minute or so maybe longer, then stops briefly, then starts again.... I cannot lock the car and leave it locked without the sodding alarm activating...FFS. When I deactivated it with the key fob it beeped three times again, I don't know whether this is significant?

After reading this I really feel sorry for poor Chris.

This threads like a show trial.

This.

I feel like the quote below is yet another dig at Chris and isn't really needed. Maybe it's just your way of wording things, I don't know.

Cleaning of door card fabric, most of this dirt was overlooked during previous 'detailing' processes, you can see what has come off on the microfiber!

Boo hoo. If it was your hard earned money you’d have more empathy. I could elaborate on the list of things that have p*ssed me off about his purchase but I won’t for fear of upsetting any more cry babies on here.

No skin off my nose, just think it's a bit childish. If you've got a problem with stuff, speak to the guy you bought it off first before making sly little digs.

I have done. At this stage I feel there’s no point as the number of things giving me grief seem to be growing, furthermore, I can’t help but feel like some of these would have been apparent already (I.e. the alarm issue which is doing my f**king head in), and certain info conflicts with what is depicted in the thread and what ive been told.

To reiterate, if you can’t understand the frustration here then there’s no point trying to explain it to you.

From my point of view I’m interested to see the progress you make but without finger pointing or digs at any previous workmanship.

I fully understand where the OP is coming from and if I’d bought it, which I was tempted then I would be in more trouble as I have no mechanical know how, but I am losing interest in the progress for this reason.

It looks like the car’s in great hands and the progress is lending itself to a very well sorted example.
It would be nice to keep on topic for everyone to appreciate what you’re doing.

Count yourself lucky you didn’t. The alarm alone is enough to make me want to burn it. Can’t even leave the damn thing locked.

I’m happy to continue reporting progress as normal, just felt it was necessary to respond to those who don’t seems to have any empathy for my situation. Anyway that is all, I will continue to report progrsss as normal. However, please don’t become offended if some of this draws attention to flaws previously overlooked, or the correction of bad workmanship. It’s also louder than I feel it should be and everything is standard so there’s either a blow somewhere on the exhaust or intake manifold. Need to locate that next...

Push the interior sensors down into the pillars and see if it makes a difference. Check the wiring on them too as they're often dodgy.

Have you tried leaving the battery disconnected for an hour or so?

As a temp fix, get in the car, lock it on the button inside then get out the passenger side and lock it on the key.
This thread is interesting - https://www.cliosport.net/threads/alarm-keeps-going-off.106342/.

Open passenger door

Press lock button on dash

Shut and manually lock passenger door

That was the way I used to disable the interior sensors on my old Clio's. The rest of the time it was the bonnet sensor, which I would unplug and problem solved.

Alternatively, sack the whole lot off. Always alarm issues.

On another note the centre caps aren't original?

This thread........ Tbf if I had paid £4250 for a cup and it had suspension and wheels falling off and alarm going off constantly I'd be pissed. But its a 15 year old French hot hatch, get used to "issues" it's part and parcel of ownership.

If I had paid £4250 for a cup I'd have looked it over a bit closer. If the steering wheel badge had a bit of dirt in it not to my liking I'd clean it, but I wouldn't feel the need to accuse previous owners of lieing to me about the condition.
Lewis the anal attention you are lavishing on the car is great, and something I'd never be able to do. It always irks me to see cups stripped for track or being broken so you have my respect for making one factory fresh again.

I see Chris has ‘liked’ this post.

The irony here being that despite being an old French car, the only reason things are (almost) falling off is because of incompetence on the part of the installer(s), whether that be Chris or others is irrelevant at this stage. The thing that actually annoys me the most is I feel stupid for not being more thorough at the time of purchase, I took everything at face value and the build thread presented very well and inspire(d) my confidence in the vehicle and affirmation that it was a sound purchase. As I said before I’m a very trusting person. However upon reflection there is a lot of misleading information and the car now sitting on my drive is not what it was in that thread (I.e. Intake bolts missing, car not actually fully detailed despite photos of machine polishers sitting on the bonnet etc etc.) However I’ll deal with it and sort the problems out, I just feel pissed off as I’d never sell something to someone else and mislead them in such a a way. You live and learn eh.

More progress to come, my replacement intake bolts arrived today so that’s another f**k up checked off the list :)

I was not going to reply any further on this, however seeing as your thread appears to be a constant personal slanderous attack at me I feel I must. Perhaps you should change the thread title to something along the lines of 'Tales of Chris the Incompetent Lier who Sold me a Piece of Junk' because that's how this reads.

Let me start by saying that I am not a mechanic, I am not a car salesman and I am certainly not a dishonest individual. I have bought and sold cars to and from individuals on this forum who I believe would all say I am a straight person.

I purchased the car from someone who claimed to be a mechanic (I can't prove or disprove this) and had done a lot of work on the car which I couldn't check but believe was done due to the amount of parts invoices. Since I had the car I did my best to further enhance the vehicle as best I could without going overboard.

Lets address some of your issues and accusations:

1. Alarm keeps going off - This happened to me once after the first week of purchase, the battery was flat and so this was the cause I believe at that time. I then put the car on a battery conditioner and it remained like this in my garage unlocked for the rest of my ownership. Exactly as you saw my new one sitting when you looked in the garage.
2. Loose rear damper bolt - I personally changed out the rear shocks, I am no mechanic but I did tighten back up using a torque wrench however this was a cheap one from Amazon and so it is possible it wasn't tightened correctly but I believed it to be.
3. Cleanliness - As you said yourself 'I suppose most peoples idea of 'clean' is not quite the same as my OCD level so this is to be expected '. Let's leave that one there.
4. Exhaust needing further adjustment - I didn't fit the exhaust and the car was SORN in my possession, if it had been a car I regularly drove I may have noticed a slight rattle but I honestly never drove the car and anyone that knows me will know I enjoy owning low cost 00's hot hatches more than I do driving them. I believe it is also worth noting that exhausts on these cars always require regular adjustment and they change when cold to hot.
5. Missing inlet bolt - As you said it was there in my build thread and I have no reason to randomly remove it so I really don't have an answer for thi one I am afraid.
6. Pushed in rear wiper wiring grommet - Never noticed this and never worked on that area of the car. You suggest it was 'bodged'; it was never touched!
7. Mickey mouse paint finish - I can paint parts how I choose and to refer to something as mickey mouse is just frankly rude.
8. Finger tight bolts and other things - I did not touch or work on every single part of this car nor did others that carried out work for me; a lot of areas were not touched by anyone and I wouldn't have checked everything as that's ridiculous. I bet every person on this forum would find bits and pieces loose on their cars somewhere, they are cheap old french hatch backs. They are brilliant little cars but they are not brand new Porsches.
9. Mirror switch working opposite sides - I never touched the wiring only changed the door pull to non sticky ones and popped existing switch back in; as I didn't drive the car I guess that's why I didn't notice but they are functioning fine. Funnily enough the switch in my PB car is the same so may this is common, I don't know.
10. 1x loose locking nut - I had new tyres put on the car by the tyre place down the road, not my fault as you said and I will check if they ever do anything else for me as hadn't used them before.
11. Playing at being a pro - I have never suggested once I have firm mechanical knowledge, most of the work was done by the previous owner or others and I only did a few cosmetic items myself bar the rear suspension; so an unnecessary comment in my opinion.
12. Car not fully detailed - There are a million levels of detailing, I did not carry out multi stage correction on the paint down to jeweling, and I wouldn't want to on old french paint to be fair. I stated and I quote 'a once over with the DAP'; a single pass on a dual action polisher will not provide full correction so to suggest that somehow meant I was doing a full correction and I was misleading people is ridiculous.

I think you have a loud negative voice for someone who has just come to the forum, and I am surprised the moderators continue to allow it. Makes me question if I wish to continue to be a paying part of this community.

I do not appreciate this smear campaign and having everything I did/didn't do being picked apart in a way that suggests I deliberately mislead you. I also certainly do not appreciate your constant indirect name calling.

You previously wrote:

'Anyway, that is all I will say on the subject and the thread will continue with the progress and work I am doing, my comments are more to help others and ensure they check their work to avoid any possible mishaps.'

I think you have had your say now and should stick with that statement and document the positive progress. If others wish to continue to follow your thread the way it is then that is up to them but I would guess most would prefer to read it without your childish digs and expletives.

I will not be responding again on this thread nor to any others authored by you, and I honestly didn't want to respond now. As you know from when you turned up late evening to collect the car I have a newborn baby, and I honestly am saddened and slightly disappointed in myself, to think I have just wasted time I could be spending on the weekend with him, defending myself against your idiocy.

As said previously going forward I hope you enjoy the car, and can do so without mentioning me and the people who carried out work on the car in good faith.

Well @Lewigi_69 congratulations on your effort. You’ve successfully managed to get a long standing PAYING member of Cs to deactivate his account due to your ‘standards’ being different to his.

You sir, can take yourself and your thread and f**k off. This forum prides itself on being a friendly and helpful place to be.

You’ve now got 2 options, start your thread again and choose your words wisely, or quite simply f**k off. Don’t waste your time pm’ing me because as you’ll see, that’s not listed in your options above.
