Hi mate, what are you using to replace the door locks/handles? Im looking to replace the locks on my car, as they dont open with the key anymore just the key fobb!

If you put a ph2 into the ph1 where do the bolts, wires and vent pipes etc go? is it a fairly simple job or will I be doing abit of head scratching?

Its not too hard if you use a bit commin sense. Look in the guides section on here and theres a guide to the dash conversion. Will be easier for you though with not having AC etc, i put a ph2 dash in my last ph1. Best thing i ever done!

Haven't tackled that one yet I'm afraid, one of the reasons I was going to do it was the locks are ceased and the key fobb doesn't work will let you know if I come up with an idea...

Thinking door poppers as I'm going for the smoothed look, that eliminates all issues with broken door handles and locks..

It does pose the 'what happens if the poopers break' dilemma :/

you fit the emergency cable for the door or the boot. that way you still get in incase of a failure

Aww overkill, smoothing looks best in moderation, it starts to look tacky when you do too much

lol Mr.Beans idea of a car lock beats what I have to do!! which is to go in through the passenger seat to unlock my door!!

Did I see a blue lower grille on the front bumper?

If you're going for the flush look, have you thought of some Mazda handles? I think it's the 323 or the older mx-5s that have a two part decent looking handle. It would be a bit of work but they should sit flat to the door.

And yes the colour is some cords Arden blue I had left over from a touch up job, hoping to use it as a subtle secondary colour.. Although it mixed is quite expensive :/

Due to work and this bloody horrible bout of rain i've been confined to my dads tiny shed..

Underside of the dash is going white, just needs another coat then the topside is having all the vents, tweets and the passengerside dip smoothed out (half done so far) and I saw dashboards with leather trim at ultimate dubs which I thought looked nice so the top is going to be trimmed up in black leather.. That's the plan as off yet, after it's all in I may change my mind depending on how it looks.

Yeh doing a photoshop would probably be smarter on the time/money scale but I'm half way there now


Just unearthed why the smoothed boot keeps cracking, An inch of expanding foam :/

There self tapping screws, to hold on the mesh I think.. Spent today chipping that out and welding a plate in..

Got the number plate in a recess in the rear bumper so ima smooth the boot in again, need to get some kind of boot release though as the previous owner was using a piece of string to pop it open

Another late night and it's all coming together, bit o flating to do tomorow and a polish then it'll be time to chuck on abit I high gloss black and my secondary colour to break up the white and the paintjob will be done!

Finally got a blank canvas to work with!!
And in just 4 weeks, considering I took out the sunroof and properly smoothed everything with o previous experience and whilst holding down a full time job I'm counting that as an acheievement... Starting to look like a worthwhile project I hope?

The missus is down from uni on the weekend and she's a devil with the airbrush so hopefully handles will be going black to break up that mass off white...

Decided to beef up the front of the car with a Laguna front splitter, to my amazement micraboy had one just "lying around"

And I've picked up some escort RS recarro seats too just need to smash them onto the frames and bolt em in

Final thing was wondering about my rims, decided to keep my steels, possibly band them... Anybody had experience with banded steels, can you put regular unstrecthed tyres on them, hiw wides too wide..etc?
