Burning smell

My heater has been smelling a bit strange really but tonight it smelt as if it had caught fire for a brief second.

I'm a bit worried as the heating still works and only smells occasionally.

Could it be something small catching fire in the engine bay causing the smell which is being brought into the car via the heating?

I pulled up about 30 seconds after the burning smell and opened the bonnet but I couldn't smell anything under there.

check they're arn't any bags under the car, ie around the exhaust.

Check something hasn't dropped down onto the manifold.

Cool I'll give it a check in the morning. First thing my mate said was "that's a sign of a brain tumor that!"
