Burpspeed Version 2: Race Car Build

  182cup & 172 racecar
The new season is a long way off but we wanted to get cracking on the prep early. We’ve formed a plan of attack for the winter and know what needs to be done. The lump is out already and off to 519 Automotive for a check over and refresh. The sump has developed a hairline crack recently so that needs sorting while its apart. The gearbox is off to Agency Transmissions for a check up. Along with a good look over, some cooling improvements and a front caliper rebuild on the list too.
No big upgrades planned for the car but lots of small tweaks that should make some good lap time improvement, were trying to get the most from what we have.

Great driving guys, just watched the last video you have uploaded. Your both fantastic drivers, a pleasure to watch!

With another years experience under your belt do you think that you could win the championship next with the car pretty much as it is?

We have been more consistent than the others this year, some had won a race then had dnf's, so we just kept plugging away with 4 x 2nd's a 3rd and a 4th and finished them all.

Can't say it's been lucky, but more time spent on prep and keeping things simple.

shucks, fanks

Tony taught me everything i know.

With what we have planned over winter (small tweeks) the car should be slightly quicker over one lap, more consistant and therfore do better total race times. Weather that will be reflected in race results depends on the competition.

Hi guys, I just had a quick question regarding your "Set up" when you go to each race!

What is it that you adjust from track to track with you set up. Are you mainly just adjusting the Damping & Rebound or do you also make camber changes at every track?

I understand the need to adjust camber and Damping when its wet but if its dry then you still make changes? (i've been out of the game too long)

Mainly damping, less camber for Silverstone (longer straights) and maybe a little ride height adjustment to further balance the car to suit.

Sadly thats going to be largely down to if that ridiculously over specced for the series honda competes much next year I suspect.

Oh right thanks Tony.

I've bought Marks AST Sportline 2 Coilovers + topmounts so thats why i was just asking.

I know this is a bit of a ball ache but can you tell me your Front Camber + Toe settings and what "clicks" you have on your damping and rebound and what weight balance you have front to back! PM me if you need to.

I will be setting up my car on a borrowed flat floor corner weighting scales so just wanted to get it set up roughly about right and then just making rough adjustments when i get it on track.

If its too much bother then not to worry :)

It's no secret, it's in loads of places on here.
Camber front 3,5
Camber rear 2.5
Toe front 2mm out
Toe rear 1mm out

Weight on front 325kg each corner from memory, but vary's slightly from track to track.
Start with all "clicks" in the middle and go from there.
