Business car insurance and being a named driver elsewhere

So, to make my car insurance cheaper I decided to add my aunty to the policy, of course I asked and she agreed that it was fine.

So this morning she ring me up and tells me I have invalidated her insurance because i didn't tell her I added her as a named driver...

Now I wish i had gotten it in writing that I could add her on, but you dont ask for that kind of thing from a family member do you?

So what I want to know is, do business car insurance companies care about being a named driver elsewhere and would it void the policy if they were to fail to disclose this?

Spoken to some friends and they think its bullshit, does anyone else know otherwise?

As far as I know, cars can only be insured by one person.

But a person can be insured on a thousand cars no problem.

I'd say your aunty is a dick.

Thanks, I was pretty sure that was the case.

She has been known for being like that, and she had ago at me on the phone this morning claiming she couldn't sleep all week thinking about it, but only phoned me about it today ffs!

This, I'm insured on cars through 2 businesses plus have my own personal car insurance.

The only thing you can't do is have personal insurance plus business on the same vehicle IIRC.

She's talking pish! I'm insured (as a named driver) on at least 4 other cars and as a main driver for 2. Pick another old woman to insure and give yourself a break!

She just forced me to send her a copy of my insurance certificate to prove she isn't on it!

I edited it to remove my personal details so i expect she wont believe its real. lol.

Definately sounds very strange. Being named on another policy elsewhere shouldnt have any bearing on her policy....If anything having access to more than one car would often help reduce the quote.

Thanks. All very useful information for when she inevitably brings the subject matter up again.

Why did you pick some fat chav bint to add to your insurance in the first place (im extrapolating rather than guessing here...) and not a decent older family member instead?

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
She is clearly a paranoid fool with incorrect understandings of how anything works. Probably thinks you a e going to claim and damage her driving record somehow

How did she find out you'd put her as a named driver?

Because I said, "oh you can drive my car you know". I said this about 6 weeks ago mind you!

I had the choice of 2 aunties, this one was cheaper that the other, so was the obvious choice really.

Exactly my thoughts tbh, she is a cleaner so talks to a lot of people. My guess is someone has told her something, and she has believed it.

So she hasn't actually made a claim i.e she's just 'suggesting' that you have invalidated her policy because she's a named driver on your policy?

Yes, and she told me she couldn't sleep all week knowing her insurance was void!

Spoke to my uncle about it this evening, but as soon as i said I had spoken to insurers and business insurers he couldn't get off the phone quick enough!

My aunty also told my mum earlier that she could do me for fraud and get me kicked out of uni, clearly she hadn't looked up the definition of fraud. LOL.

She sounds like a grade A c**t. So she would ruin your future over something so petty (and wrong)... Obviously has little regard or the family.

Exactly, and the fact that i was not phoned back by my uncle after he said he would, tells me they know its all crap, which is pretty amusing from my point of view!
