Buying 16v - HELP!!!!

Thinking of buying a clio that ive seen locally. Its got 140k on the clock but its had a lot of work done to it. It appears to be in very good condition and well looked after. Should I be wary of a french car thats done that many miles?! Ive always thought condition was more important in older cars but Ive never considered one with so many miles before. They want about £2.5k. What do you guys think?

Cheers for the reply. Its a 94 L with plenty of receipts and many new parts. Is lowered 30mm and on 17s with new tyres. How much do you guys think is reasonable? Or would u leave well alone?!

I have looked over the guide and its very good! However, it doesnt really have much on the pitfalls of buying very high mileage clios (which so many of them are these days). Think im gonna offer 2k and see what happens.... cant ever see me reselling it tho after I put 30k on it!!!!!

Wow... he wont budge from 2.5. Think im going to look elsewhere, as like you say, thats too much for that!!!
