Buying a brand new 200 from Renault...

  182 Trophy
If I could find one for £199 a month, Id probably chop in my 182 tomorrow.

I don't think I've averaged much less than that a month in repairs and maintenance on the 182.

At the end of the day, owning any car costs money. Usually when buying something new or nearly new you are trading some of that depreciation out for reduced maintenance costs (inherent with a new car and a warranty).

£199 a month isn't a huge amount of money to be honest and you get a nice new car (let's face it, most of us aren't driving £400 mondeos because we like nice cars and don't mind spending money owning one) and mostly hassle free motoring.

I had a nearly new Corsa VXR and Focus ST - I got rid thinking it would be cheaper to buy an older, cheaper car - but I've just replaced finance costs with maintenance costs for the most part. If I include the purchase cost, I'd have spent less money in the last year keeping the ST than I have buying and maintaining the 182.

So you'd rather pay a large interest rate and keep your savings for at a small interest rate?

And it's lose. Not loose.

yes, because if something suddenly happens where i need access to a few £K then its no good having a 16k car sitting in the drive with no savings, id rather pay the small price of a higher interest rate and have the cash available to me.

thanks for the correction on the spelling. really appreciate it. was posting from my phone so didnt run it through a spell checker as i usually would.

Not to go off topic but even if you have the cash I'd sign up on one of these schemes I've recently got 3k off a new 200 Cup linked to it being on a Renault PCP the discount without was considerably less. After taking delivery there is nothing to stop you settling up and even with any doc fees you might get charged it still proves a hefty saving.
