Buying new stuff, need help :)

  R26
So basically, im just about to splash out on some new car cleaning/detailing stuff as i dont have much, so wondered if anyone could write me up a nice list of things, bearing in mind winter is approaching :(

At the moment all ive been using is:

Cold Rinse
AG Shampoo/Conditioner Wheels
AG Shampoo/Conditioner 2 Bucket Method Paintwork
Rinse
Dry (Not completely)
Aqua Wax
Simoniz Back to Black & Wheel Sealer

I know this is probably a terrible way but its all ive got or used, so if someone could write me up a list of products and the sequence that would be great :)

It's not a bad basic method in fairness :)

If you're happy with AG shampoo then stick with it, theres a lot better out there though such as Duragloss 901.

With the regular aqua waxing you should have decent protection, however a good clay, polish and re-wax (or seal) would make the paintwork look a lot better.

Claying removes old dulled layers of wax, traffic film and other bonded contaminants and leaves you with a smooth fresh surface to polish so is worth doing. You could then look at having your car machine polished (reccomended) or tidy it up using Autoglym Super resin polish (which will restore some gloss and remove minor imperfections), then a good sealant or wax of your choice. This particular area is very subjective, have a look for yourself on cleanyourcar/i4detailing/chemicalguysuk websites.

Tyre gel is a must in my opinion, most use either Megauirs endurance or Blackfire, applied with a sponge applicator.

Hope that helps

Not a bad start really. I'd get a decent towel to dry. Are you using a mitt to wash?

Polish.. Unless you want to buy a machine, get some AutoGlym SRP from halfords.

Then in you're feeling flush order some Swissvax Onyx to finish off.

Cheers for the quick replies :)

Ive heard alot about claying and do plan on buying some, which is the best in your opinions? Also is cold rinsing before and inbetween shampooing each panel a good idea? After claying is it better to use a sealer or a wax, as ive read Finish Kare 1000P is suposed to be great? Also what the best wheel cleaner?

Oh and Justin, ive got a mitt for washing, a couple of microfibre cloths and a drying towel :) If i bought a sealer would i just apply that with a cloth yeah?

Sorry for all the questions, just a tad eager :)

^ Good choice of products but after claying it will want polishing.

Glass I'd go with Autoglym fast glass or Meguairs glass concentrate

That Megs Clay is still quite aggressive, get the SP Orange Clay, MUCH better stuff.

Also, what are you using to prep the paint before 1000P? SRP? If not, get some SP Paint Cleanser, which is epic stuff for the money and will work with 1000P.

Oh and ditch the Flexi Blade and replace with an SP Uber Drying Towel :)

Glass wise, you can't go wrong with the Megs Glass Cleaner Concentrate
