Apple shift 3

Apple shift 4 and you can drag across the area you want

Whole screen = Apple (Command) Key +Shift+3
Mouse selected screen shot = Apple (Command) Key +Shift+4
Select what window to screen shot = Apple (Command) Key +Shift+4 then press Spacebar

Hmmm Mac user in 'I cant even do a screenshot' shocker.

maybe they should copy the PC (again - bit like the alt+tab switching revolution that windows 3.1 had) and have a print screen button, even mac users could do that (probably).
