Cam Belt change on 182 (2005)

  Renaultsport Clio 182 ff
hi all,
might be basic question, but new to Renault,
have heard cambelt change on the 182 clio, was 70,000 miles, then 40,000 max!
Now 36,000miles by Renault...

is this correct,
thanks for any help

72k or 5 years mate most have it changed 60-70k just to be safe. 36k is for the aux belt which can also be quite expensive depending on where you take it.

cheers for that, seems to be right, as was just reading diff threads, but 1 thing i cant believe is the diff prices for belts to be changed seems to range from £250 to £800, mad!
I will get 3 prices i think...

Hmm I hear conflicting info on the aux belt change. The dealer told me that at 36K it's optional only, hence mine didn't have it done (I just bought my last week at 38K.) Plus I also saw a couple of posts here that say it's a visual inspection at 36K, and yet others saying it's a must have!

Which is right? Meanwhile I'm looking for quotes to have this done somewhere in Leeds if need be.

Cheers.

Have it changed at 36k or risk the chance of it breaking and taking the cambelt with it. Will be about £150 at a specialist iirc.

The aux belt is not always recognised by renault at 36K
Basically in a few cases the aux belt has failed, wrapped itself around the crank pulley and ended up with bent valves!!
In my opinion, get the auxiliary belt done! Prevention is better than cure as they say.

Be a bit more than that kid, the kit is about £110 with the vat! Renault have put them up not long ago!
