Cambelt just gone

hi guys, think my belt has just gone, put my foot down, lost all power and cut out when stopped, wont start now

mechanic has got it now, having a look, ill find out at half 7 tonight if its that

does it sound like it??

if so, would i be better getting a replacemnet engine??

mine has 95000 miles on it now

its a 51 plate 172

im going to dig it out now bud, never thought to check.

it wont have any sort of guarantee now on the belt??

if its the cambelt (which it sounds like it could well be) its going to be pretty pricey mate. bet it needs new valves too. it really does pay to get regular services and belt changes. it happend to my bro on his 172 ph1 (8 years old) with no cambelt change. i warned him

well guys, ive just spoke to the mechanic, and its good news, cambelt still there, he thinks its a coilpack???!!!!

dont know what the f**k 1 of them is though :)

Now you know what it would have been like if you belt did go though! If it hasn't been done STOP DRIVING IT!!! and get it done asap.

Got a bit of spare cash this month so I'm going to get mine done a bit early, I hear way too many horror stories about these things to take any risk whatsoever (in fact its got to the one of the top 5 problems on here people experience engine wise!?)

Only because people don't realise when they need doing and/or get it done down a local garage who doesn't have a clue what they are doing.

Neglecting the aux belt and pulleys also causes the cambelt to go in many cases.
