:( On my ph1 flamer. Just left my work then going up a hill accelerating in 1st then total power loss, belt is hanging out underneath and off all the pulleys. Was due this year so only myself to blame :dead: Still in a bit of shock, never happened to me before and not sure what to do. Spent a fair bit on the old girl as well :(

  Maybe a 172 Cup..
Devastated for you pal. Been there with my phs 1, not good.
Don't get shut like I did, source and drop a lump in....

  53 Clio's & counting
Oh no dude :(

Id sorce a 2nd hand head or engine, under a £500 fix if you're handy with spanners

I'm hopeless with spanners unfortunately. Been Trying to save for the Cambelt job as well Then I spotted another car I wanted so just put it up for sale on here, think she spat the dummy at me. Glad it happened to me and not to someone I may have just sold it to.

Lol I know mate, that's the thing the engine was perfect, was just due the belts.

Sorry to hear that matey....

I think I'm tempting fate as I have a timing belt kit, dephaser pulley seal kit, drive belt etc.... Also have the renault tools all in the boot ready to get done lol just need to pull finger out and get it done!!!

But mine is not due for a couple of years but I will be doing it for peace of mind ;)

I would get a 2nd hand engine too fit personally.

Had my Aux belt go and make the cambelt jump and cost me getting on towards 1k to get it all fixed at a garage with me getting the parts..

My Cam belt went on mine as well mate, only mine was a water pump bearing collapsing slackened my belt off... *Mines a non sport* and it was £200 all in for another engine put in. Then I had the water pump and cam kit changed on this one... fingers crossed it's ok

Feel sorry for you though!

Gutting mate, really sorry to hear this. I'd look on the bright side though, if you are getting a new engine dropped in, go the whole hog and put 438's in it at the same time.

That's a shitter mate I had a similar problem with my ph1 too totally gutting when it happens. Hope you get it fixed soon enough.

Going to get it to a Renault specialist near me as iv got breakdown cover and get them to take a look at it and take it from there. Sooo pissed off and annoyed with myself, all the stories about cambelts on these cars and knowing it was due f***s sake!

Depending on the damage I may break it Some of the bits on it are worth a bit

Its a real shame mate, wouldn't kick yourself to much for it though just one of those things unfortunately, just be glad you still have a car in one piece ;).

Ah f**k Jamie :( gutted for you. Dunno what it would be worth in bits tbh, I'd be interested in a couple of bits off it but I think it you can get it done for cheap then your just as well to fix it. Not being handy with the spanners means breaking it would be a pain, you dont have a garage either do you?

Cheers John , feel bad about it and annoyed with myself. Iv got a driveway but no garage. Will take it to rentec as they are very local and breakdown cover won't take it as far as swr which would of been my first choice. Will wait for damage report/estimate then see whats the best plan of action.

Yeah best plan. If breakdown get arsey and you need towed along to rentec then just let me know, towed more cars than I want to remember!

Don't break it, get it fixed.

If you were only a bit closer I could have fitted a new engine for you at mine.

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
That's a shitter :( I'd swap a good head onto it personally, replace and upgrade. You were going to cam it anyway

if the pistons are ok in it id be going for a rebuilt head as danny says stick a set of cams in it or headwork or something to make the best of a s**t situation

exactly. I've had loads of customers justify mods to their mrs like this over the years. "well is needed a new exhaust *cough* and this performance upgrade is cheaper than a standard one"

Was thinking that Danny not sure where to source one from though, ideally a head that's sorted so could just replace the old one.

If it's done the valves and pistons then just buy a secondhand engine and put it in. If it's just done the valves then do what Dan said. Please don't break it though, too many doing that at the moment.

Ouch! Not what you need dude! Not what you need at all!

I wouldn't have driven the car to be honest if it was tempting fate. They don't seem to like going over their intervals.

Economically money wise its only worth fixing if you can do it yourself or have someone do it at mates rates. Otherwise it just aint worth throwing the money at. What did you have the car up for sale for? Chances are it's going to cost more then 50% of the price to put it rite.

Theres things people dont think take into account price wise for these sport of repairs. Changing the engine your going to need ALL fluids replaces, gearbox, PAS fluid, Engine oil, anti freeze. Thats nearly £100 worth just there. Then you have other things to consider. Cambelt kit £100ish, Aux kit £80ish, Dephaser £140ish. Then you have cam end seals, crank pulley bolt. The list goes on. Thats over £400 in parts before you even think about the price of an engine
