Hi,
I have just had a quote from a local garage on a cash basis for the following work (on a ph2 172 cup):-

• Cam Belt replaced
• Tensioners
• Water Pump
• Aux Belt
• Oil Change
• Air Filter
• New Plugs

They have basically said that they can carry out this work for a price of £500. Just wondered if this is a reasonable price before i go and pay this ?

If anyone knows anywhere local to midlands who may do this work cheaper, please let me know.

You might well find its not worth changing the water pump after inspection and save your self some more money.

i can get that done for 340, genuine parts at traid price and £25 and our for cash and local garage with good rep!

I would stick with a specialist for a few £££ more, peace of mind is pricelass especially if they time it up wrong :dead:

That seems a great deal mate, but just make sure that they have done belts on 172's before and have the cam locking tools etc as well.

Either that or walk away as your car will run like s**t
