cambelt rubbing case

hi guys, had a new dephaser and cambelt kit fitted, garage then rang me to say that the belt is catching the black plastic cambelt case, what can cause this to happen?? they have ordered a new one but will this 100% fix the problem, is it cause timing isnt done rite etc... theres a very small airline crack about an inch long on the edge of the case, can this add to the problem ??

really stressed now :(

due to this happening i cant attend the fcs 11 on sunday because case wownt be here till monday :(

i thought it was designed to foul it in certain conditions? hence the design of the casing.

if its doing it all the time, they havent done it right or the case is fucked.

i hope theyve done it rite, if they havent then theyll repair it as ive got in writing a 12month warranty with my cambelt

talking out of their bottom, i belt theyve over tightened the 3bolts that hold the casing onto the engine, i've done it myself - CRACK - s**t b****cks f**k

well this guy has done them before, hes got a awsome reputation, hes well known for his quality engine rebuilds and i know hes really fussy, i dont know what to think now
, his words are it will be ready monday by 12 and it will be running perfect

Ive been to the garage to look at look at the cambelt case, i can see that a pully has been rubbing against it, it looks like its the lowest pully that you cant see coz of the cover in the pic, the case is scored a bit, aw well il update u monday, wish me luck lolol

hope not :(, when the belt is off an the new dephaser pully is fitted, should there be any movement or play in it AT ALL

right i just rang the mechanic, he said he fitted a complete new cambelt kit and dephaser, put it all back together, started it up and it run perfectly, apart from a very slight noise coming from cambelt case, he then took it apart, removed cambelt case and realised it had crack on it, he then noticed there where very light rubbing marks on the inside from the pully, he removed the belt, so that he could remove the pully which he thinks is rubbing the case, so that he could check the pully is ok, i then arrived to see how it was going, which ment that the belt was off etc... he then showed me the case, i could see there where rubbing marks on the inside, he then ordered a new cambelt case which will arrive mon for fitment. now thats the full story fred, what you think

when i was at the garage, i checked the dephaser and when the belt was off the dephaser had a little movement in it, but i mean tiny bit

i had marks on my cam belt cover when fred timed it up the other week.

the marks shouldnt be there if the engine is timed up properly, who ever timed my 182 up before fred did was probably a window licker tbf. theyt made a right hash of it.

fred saved the day though so id listen to him mate if were you

what make was the cambelt kit?

its not possible for the idler to rub the plastic casing unless you put the spacers the wrong way round as Danny says, but i find that incredibly unlikley

i assume he has the pulley locking tool from renault?

to be honest it sounds like a load of tosh to me, get a picture of the casing

your tensioner was 180 degrees off and the belt was flapping around that much it had rubbed the case, so i retract my comment LOL!

gates i think, when you say spacer wrong way umm what can i say to the mechanic about that to see if he can check etc..
