the 2 idlers both have a spacer, the upper 1 is short, the lower one is longer, he could mix them up, but i highly doubt he'd be that stupid

make sure you have a warranty on the work, it just sounds like the guy is a bit lacking in his renault knowledge

:( why don't people learn to only use specialists with good reps off here, 519, rentec, btm, birchdown etc. Madness!

one of my customers, a championship winning rally cross company built a 172 engine that lasted 12miles - why? lack of knowledge when it comes to the F4R

you could be an F1 engine builder, but if you dont know the processes/tools etc involved you can royally f**k it up on the F4R

i understand what your sayin fred, i do have a 12 month warranty aswell which does help lol, but nm next time i know now

iv seen the tools needed, cam locks etc.. seen it on one of the threads, i actually seen those tools on the bench so i think its down to knowledge now lolol

My father in law is determined to time his 182 engine up him self. Despite me telling him alOt of garages mess them up never mind wagon drivers (he is a wagon driver) he just won't listen and they have spent £600 on parts plus what ever the locking tools cost. I'm not even sure they have bought the right locking tools for the f4r tbh.

They will mess it up, I know they will. Then they will winge like mad that their timing is out.

Thus the circle is repeated. Lesson; always use the specialists and don't skimp on cost.

Just trying to help buddy. If I were you I would go collect your car and take it to a competant garage. For a list of the competent garages have a look in the traders section. The only trader I have experience with is BTM (Fred). They did my cambelt, aux belt, dephaser, and a 12k service. They come highly recommended and that's not just from me.
