Hi everyone I've booked my car in for its 72k cambelt change and the garage has suggested to order my own parts from Renaultdirect as they have got a massive sale on at the moment. So far I've ordered these 2 items is there anything else I should order

Bit odd for Birchdown to suggest the owner to buy their own parts...

However, at least it'll be done right.

Those kits you've ordered doesn't include the seal behind the cams, a new crank pulley bolt or a new waterpump.

How much are they charging for labour? I'm just thinking this could end up costing you more...

The car will need oil/ and filter with the change...as for the spark plugs, they're easy to replace during the cambelt change..all depends if you want to spend another £40 ...if they're genuine plugs no need to change them..they should at least 30,000 miles..

240 for labour he said it would work out cheaper because of the sale at the moment he cant get the parts cheaper,he said he has the water pump in stock. So should I just order the crank pulley bolt and the seal?

That's good to hear the guy who I spoke to sounded really nice and and was more interested in saving me money than making more profit for himself which is rare

Yes i would order them because if your current seals leak after you've had the new belt done, it'll all have to come off again.

7701471629 is the part number.

The kit he's ordered for £205 doesn't include the cam seals, crank pulley bolt or the seal plug for the dephaser.

Not sure what you mean, but he's ordered both kits but individually.

The cambelt kit (which doesn't actually include everything) for £205 and then the aux kit for £77.
At the start of the thread he stated he ordered the Auxiliary belt kit... I suggested to buy the cambelt change kit..not the cambelt kit..
Anyway he's all sorted now..

His first post had 2 picture atttachments, the cambelt kit and aux kit. Maybe you only saw the aux kit pic?

But yeah he should be sorted now once he gets the cams seals kit i linked and a crank bolt.

Everything with a Clio sport seems to be a rigmarole.. I needed new dampers and springs..the Renault dealership checked it and said I had a none cuppack...I found out later it wasn't...

Can't trust most dealerships nowadays with these.

Not like when these cars were new, you'd have someone in there that knew them. Now, not many people take them to dealers so it's not worth them keeping the specialists.

The Renault specialists you see now were all probably once Renault Master trained.
