i have just purchased an 02 reg 172 (38k)...the cambelt + aux belt has not been changed...i was just wondering how urgently i should get this matter rectified...?

Get done asap. I'd avoid driving the car too much too, better to be on the safe side.

Get higher than I'd accept when milage is over 60k or 4 years whichevers easlier.

Mines on a 53 plate with just under 36000. Not had a belt change. Thought it was 5 years or 60,000??

5 years 72k was the renault allowance under warently I'd never leave it that long though for most people and for hard used cars I'd do it even more than that.

i was asking because i owned a volkwagen polo gti and premature (sub 50k) cambelt failure rates on these vehicle were quite high...so i was wondering if the 172 was similar...

4 years and 60k under normal driving.

I thought they only did fords ??

I wouldn't go there tbh, find a renault specialist.
