cams, do i NEED chip

if i were to put reprofiled cams in a williams, set up to kents recomended timing, would i NEED a chip? obviously its advisable, but will i still see some benefits before the chip? and will a PBV do the job? any advice or tips welcome!

Ive got Piper ones without a chip mate, and I can feel a bit of difference through the mid-range...

Defos get a chip so u can get the best out of it, im just proper skint at the mo, but itll be the next engine mod ill do - besides a de-cat.

Dont really know wot the PBV will do, i keep hearing mixed things about how good they are.

You dont NEED a chip no, and depending on the chip, ive found that the std ECU handles cams better than some chips.

No, it will help, but i am assuming you are going for the SMT6?

The basic chip when just plonked in doesnt do much i find.

I think so, is it the one that piggy backs onto the original ecu?

I heard the Dastek one is suppose to be pretty good aswell.

Sorry if I sound dumb, ive only been lookin into chips today.

Ok, cheers.

I take it ill be better off going for the SMT6 instead of the Dastek one?

Cheers for ya help Ben....Oh and sorry for stealing ur thread Clean16V
