Is there anyway of moddifying my existing cams to give that on cam kick you get in a 182 and maybe increase performance while im at it? I loved that feeling when i test drove it, but cant afford one yet.

no it isnt possible and you only have one cam. I know that dibias can modify your cams profile for £250 it will give more power but not the kick

ok, what kind of increase in performance can i expect to see? its sohc on my engine isnt it? and the versions of my car with 2 sensors have dohc

yes its a sohc, get the head done, best gain youll get and retain stock driveability.

I had a piper cam in my megane coupe 1.6 8v with a polished and ported head williams injecters ,stainless 4 branch & decat 130 bhp on the rollers

^^ I also had a megane 1.6 8v - you aint gonna be gaining 40bhp with the stuff mentioned above - that RR must have over reading for definate.

Anyway, if you must mess with the engine, goto http://www.catcams.be/http://www.catcams.be/ - theyll do you a cheap cam and vernier pulley that might gain you 10bhp or so...IIRC 8v cam comes in at under 200 from them...

The kick youre after could be achieved by a long duration cam...trouble with that is, youll have no low-down power, the power band will probably be partly beyond the cars rev limit so youd need a remap - i.e expensive for less drivablity so stick with a mildly uprated cam...dont go bananas!

What do you know about my old old car ?It had got a luminition management aswell i watched it on the rollers all the work was carried out by hillpower if you think his rollers are wrong take it up with him

ok, thanks for the advice. mods i have so far are - full stainless steel exhaust 2" bore with twin stainless steel back box. i also have a decat which i will hopefully be putting back on soon. What mods would you do next? i intend to get an itg panel filter soon.

I had everything done at once id probably say headwork & cam i had a hillpower cold air induction kit on mine

What do you know about my old old car ?It had got a luminition management aswell i watched it on the rollers all the work was carried out by hillpower if you think his rollers are wrong take it up with him

Woah - calm down mate!

Im well aware of what hillpower can do with that lump but to my knowledge they only ever did that work to one transplanted into an RT clio. In any case, you never mentioned the lumintion management in the spec above in which case im right...you wouldnt have reached 130 without it.

Fair play though for having the work done...i heard the unit nick dumped into a clio was reputed to out accelerate a williams to 100 so not too shabby at all!

Mine had got more work done than nicks,it seemed nearly as quick before the luminition, the standard ecu packed up so it was only a bit dearer to have the luminition.It was quick but i wanted more power and it was starting to get very hard to gain anymore power and now ive got a 172 that fels slow now im used to it
