Camshaft Oil Seals

  Trophy,R26,GSXR1000
Depends whether it's the cam seal on the gearbox end, in which case simply insert new ones, or if it's the ones behind the cam pulleys, cue the resetting of the timing as the pulleys will need to be removed. You may as well change the belt and tensioner to while your at it.

Taking its the pulley end then? No choice if you want it sorting, won't be cheap to have it done I wouldn't have thought around 500 sheets at a guess including new belts. Idlers and tensioners should be ok if they've been done recently which might reduce it some wouldn't know until the belts off and they can be checked though.

mine split on the pulley end after i fitted a set of cams into the engine. The top rocker cover must have 'pinched' the seal, then when the engine had been run the seal split...after about 10 mins driving I had oil pouring out the side of the head...

The seals themselves arent expensive at all, its the labour and belt kit that are the killer. Luckily I ordered the seals and did the work myself, good few hours job though, no doubt a garage would charge more!
