Can anyone do a check on a car numberplate to see if its been written off?

Do a HPI check - the good ones will tell you.

As far as I know, nope.

Enter the reg of the car you intend to buy as the car you want to sell.

if its been wrote off before auto trader will tell you.

Its basic but a free way to avoid cat C/D cars.
