can anyone help please?????

  corsa D / 172 clio
hi

if anyone could take the time to watch or more importantly listen to the few videos i have taken of my car i would be most grateful.

my 182 has developed a couple of quite worrying noises and i dont know if

1) they are the same fault with the noise just changing as the engine warms up a bit

2) where either of them are coming from!

it sounds like this first thing from cold

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzId2PRMh0g

and after about 45 seconds everything goes quiet for about 1 minute and then this noise starts

i have tried to get it from all different angles as best as i could

thanks for any help or advice anyone can give.

Working now.

Is it coming from the alternator-side of things?

there's water pump, AC and alternator in there (I think?)

yes its defo the alternator side i just wondered if anyone had heard the noise before and could guide me in the right direction.

hi mick ive just tried the vids and they seem to be ok now mate

thanks fred i was starting to think that was maybe what it was but because the car has only done 48000 i was dismissing it as a option!

it does get a bit louder when its warmed up properly so that lends itself to the dephaser aswell dosent it?

  corsa D / 172 clio
yes it was done at the 5 yr point rather than the mileage before i bought it.

ive had it for 18 mths now and it hasnt missed a beat until now.

is it still ok to drive it? this noise only started a few days ago and there is no drop off in performance (yet) im only poodling about in it since the noise started.

what sort of money am i looking at to get her well again and could it done in a day?

ok i have come to the point where i am needing quotes for doing this work so if any of you specialists fancy quoting then go for it!

i will be wanting a full cam/aux belt change along with the dephaser and water pump (ive got a brand new genuine one).

plus im looking at getting the clutch done aswell.

be kind please!!!

best of contacting who you want to contact as we'll all be different prices (to an extent)

engine out will be the most sensible way if your wanting a clutch done aswell, will work out cheaper on labour

should be around £1K-£1100 as a rough guide

ive been busy pricing up all the parts fred and i think i have a really good deal from tom at west renault for it all

what do you think labour would be if i supplied all genuine parts

if i decided to come up to you to get it done do you think she will be ok to drive that far? im 20 miles the other side of bristol from you.

i defo want it done by someone like yourself and as we all know there is only one fred!!!

I wouldn't touch the car if the customer supplied the parts, warranty minefield! If something ever went wrong in the first 12 months (not that it ever would) you'll blame me, i'll blame the parts

some of the others might do it, but i just don't use customer supllied parts for the above reason, plus we're cheaper than wests anyway ;)
